Custom Walnut Desks
I build every walnut desk by hand in my Portland workshop using locally salvaged Oregon black walnut. These are trees that survived decades of Pacific Northwest storms and seasons, and that struggle is what gives the wood its incredible character: warm browns layered with purples, blues, reds, and grays, with flashes of golden sapwood you won't find in ordinary lumber. No two desks are ever the same.
All of my walnut comes from Goby Walnut, one of the most respected names in salvaged hardwood in the country. I drive down to their Portland yard personally to hand-select every board. Learn more about my Goby partnership
Each piece is finished with VOC-free Rubio Monocoat, a hand-rubbed oil that keeps the wood looking and feeling like wood, then paired with your choice of custom steel legs.
Leg Style Options
Every desk is paired with custom steel legs fabricated by my longtime partner In Front Metal. Legs are finished with a natural blackening process for an organic matte appearance, or a polished brushed steel finish.
U Legs - simple, clean, and grounded. A perfect match for most interiors.
Trapezoid Legs - angled geometry that adds visual weight and a more contemporary feel.
Curved H Legs - an elegant steel curve that becomes a defining feature of the piece. Refined and sculptural without overpowering the wood.
Blade Legs - sleek, sculpted steel that commands attention as much as the wood does. Substantial and refined in equal measure.
Built to Your Size and Style
Standard sizes are listed above, but I can build to any size. Tell me your dimensions and I'll build to fit your space exactly. You'll also work directly with me on the details, from wood tone and grain variation to leg style and finish. Every detail is yours to decide.
Visit the Shop
If you're local, come by the shop and look through the walnut in person. People always say the desks look even better in person, and a surface you work at every day is worth seeing before you decide.
