About Stumptown Reclaimed

Stumptown Reclaimed is the one man workshop of Portland furniture maker John Tamerlano. I build custom tables by hand using locally salvaged and reclaimed hardwoods, each full of history and character. For me, it is a privilege to bring this amazing wood to life and turn it into furniture that families will gather around for years to come.

I started Stumptown Reclaimed because I have always loved creating with my hands and working with wood that has a story. Salvaged trees are different from lumberyard boards — they’ve grown through seasons, storms, drought, and time. That character lives in every board, and it is my job to honor it.

No two tables are ever alike. Every build is a completely hands-on process, and I form a personal connection with each piece as it takes shape. From the first cut to the final hand-applied finish, I stay focused on crafting a table that is as unique as the wood itself.

What I enjoy most is seeing the reaction when a finished table finds its place. My goal is to create one of a kind pieces that feel alive with grain and texture, and that elicit wows and wonder from everyone who gathers around them.

You’re welcome to visit my shop in Portland’s SE Industrial District to see the process firsthand — from raw slabs to finished pieces. I’m always happy to show people the boards, explain the process, and talk about what’s possible.
