The Wood

I build every white oak dining table by hand in my Portland workshop using salvaged quartersawn white oak selected for grain, figure, and character. Quartersawn white oak is not the flat, featureless wood people remember from 1980s kitchen cabinets. Cut at a different angle through the log, it exposes the medullary rays running through the wood, producing tight straight grain and dramatic ray flecks that shift and shimmer as the light changes. Dense, stable, and built for real life.

The Finish and Steel

Finished with Rubio Monocoat, a premium VOC-free hardwax oil. White oak can be finished naturally for a warm golden tone that deepens the ray flecks, or white washed for a subtle, clean architectural look. Both are durable, spot repairable, and low maintenance.

Every steel base is fabricated by In Front Metal, my Portland-based fabrication partner of more than ten years. Built from American steel and available in naturally blackened or brushed steel for an organic, refined look.

Leg Style Options

  • U Legs — Clean, strong, and versatile. Built from 1x2 steel tube with a simple silhouette that puts the focus on the wood.

  • Trapezoid Legs — A subtle taper as they meet the floor. Slim 2x1 steel tube with a refined architectural profile.

  • Curved H Legs — Our most distinctive design. Softly rounded corners, a raised crossbar, and a gentle taper at the feet.

  • Blade Legs — Precision welded from two pieces of steel for the seamless look of a single flat blade. Bold but clean.

  • Parsons Base — Classic 2x2 steel tube with a visible support skirt that becomes part of the design.

Built to Your Size

Standard sizes are listed above. Need something different? I build to custom dimensions. Get in touch and tell me what you need.

Built to Your Style

Building a table with me is a collaborative process. You'll work directly with me to choose the wood, the edge profile, and the details that make it yours.

Live EdgeThe natural edge of the tree is preserved, giving your table an organic one-of-a-kind silhouette that celebrates the wood in its most natural form.

Straight Edge — Clean, squared lines that let the quartersawn figure do the talking. The most popular choice for white oak.

BookmatchedTwo consecutive boards from the same log are joined down the center so the grain mirrors itself perfectly from one side to the other. The result is dramatic and completely one of a kind.
