Custom Walnut Dining Tables Seattle

Stumptown Reclaimed is a custom hardwood furniture workshop in Portland, Oregon. I'm John Tamerlano, the one person behind every table that leaves my shop. I've been obsessed with salvaged Pacific Northwest hardwoods since 2013, turning extraordinary raw material into tables that become the centerpiece of someone's home. I build custom dining tables, conference tables, benches, and desks by hand, and walnut is my specialty. Over the years I've had dozens of customers who have come down from Seattle to hand-select their wood and pick up their finished table in person. For those who prefer delivery, I ship to Seattle as well.

The Wood

I specialize in Oregon black walnut from urban and wild grown trees. It is unlike any wood you have ever seen. The soil and growing conditions here produce a spectrum of color that defies expectation. Deep browns giving way to purples, blues, reds, and grays that shift and swirl through the grain in ways that are never the same twice. The figure and character you get from old Oregon trees simply cannot be replicated anywhere else.

I also work with white oak and madrone when the right wood comes available. White oak brings tight straight grain and dramatic ray flecks that make for a clean, refined table. Madrone is something else entirely, a bold sweep of red through creamy base wood that creates some of the most visually striking tables I build.

Every species I work with is sourced exclusively through my partnership with Goby Walnut, one of the premier salvaged hardwood suppliers in the world, right here in Portland.

The Steel

Every table is paired with a steel base fabricated by In Front Metal, my Portland-based steel fabrication partner of more than ten years. Like me, they are a local one person operation committed to premium quality and precision craftsmanship. Every base is fabricated from American steel and fitted with adjustable leveling feet so your table sits solid and true. Legs are available in naturally blackened or natural brushed steel.

I offer five standard styles: U legs, Trapezoid, Blade, Curved H, and Parsons. The premium styles like the Curved H and Blade require precise fabrication and careful hand finishing that sets them apart from ordinary welded legs. And if you have something entirely your own in mind, we welcome custom designs.
